Basic Nutrition
Our health is our most important asset. Never has it been clear that we have the ability to prevent or reverse many of the chronic diseases that afflict most of us. Heart disease and its risk factors – high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and diabetes are directly related to the foods that we put in our mouth. Most recent research also relates to certain cancers such as breast, colon, liver and several other types of cancer are related too. Even arthritis, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s, dementia, ADD, ADHD, sleep apnea, and psoriasis have been linked to the foods we eat. In 400 B.C., Hippocrates advocated building health through diet. In the 12th century, Maimonides said that no disease which could be treated by diet should be treated by any other means. And, in the last century, Thomas Edison predicated that the doctor of the future would use fewer medicines but would instruct his patients on diet and nutrition. Technically speaking, nutrition is the science of how the body uses food. In fact, nutrition is life. All living things including you need food and water to live. Beyond that, you need good food, meaning food with the proper nutrient s to live well. If you don’t eat and drink, you will die.
If you don’t eat and drink nutritious food and beverages, your bones may bend or break (not enough calcium), your gums may bleed (not enough vitamin C), and your blood may not carry enough oxygen to every cell (not enough iron). If you don’t eat and drink nutritious food and beverages, you will feel sluggish and tired (not enough CoQ10, B vitamin complex, or detox), you will have dry skin, brittle hair, and less flexibility (not enough essential fatty acids or fish oils), you will have a weakened immune system (not enough antioxidants or A.H.C.C.®Plus), and you will have an unhealthy digestive tract (not enough Glutmaine or Probiotics).
Nutrition is mostly about how food revs up and sustains our bodies. Nutrition’s primary task is to find which foods and drinks provide the energy and building blocks you need to construct and maintain every organ and system in the body. We get our energy from food and we get our nutrients from foods which enable us to build, maintain, and repair tissues. They also empower our cells to send messages back and forth so as to conduct essential chemical reactions like breathing, moving, eliminating wastes, thinking, seeing, hearing, smelling, and tasting and everything else natural to a living body. Since we are not perfect people living in a perfect world eating perfect foods in the perfect amounts, we need the tools through dietary supplements to give our bodies what we need.
